Founded in 1973 by Paul and Jessica Van Dragt, Heritage Photography was originally called Pictures by Paul. In 1975 we moved our business from out of our home to its present location at 9958 Artesia Blvd. in Bellflower.
Paul
has had an interest in photography going back to his youth. He used to develop
his b&w film and process it in his grandmother's basement. The basement
had sinks in every room and cement slabs that were perfectly positioned
at working height. Only at the age of twenty-one, did he discover the house
used to be the towns local funeral home!
After a four year stint in the Navy, Paul married Jessica De Vries and settled in Bellflower, Ca. Paul and Jessica are graduates of Cerritos College. Paul furthered his education at the University of Phoenix as well as several classes provided by the Professional Photographers of America.
In 1982, the studio name was changed to Heritage Photography during a business expansion period. By that time, the studio had expanded from its beginnings as a wedding photography studio to include children, family portraits, high school senior portraits and publicity shots.
We are a full service portrait studio. Our services have expanded to include state-of-the-art Digital Imaging studio offerings including web design and graphic services. We have completely eliminated our b&w darkroom and replaced it with our Macintosh Computers utilizing several digital imaging products. The copy and restoration services of the studio have expanded to a point that 90% of the work is done "in-studio".
